Symposium 2025
Annual Symposium of the Center for Sustainable Future Mobility

* Registration is free but mandatory.
About
The mobility sector plays a crucial role in society, yet in Switzerland, it accounts for nearly 40% of greenhouse gas emissions and depends almost entirely (93%) on fossil fuels. Addressing this challenge requires a radical overhaul of both infrastructure and operations.
The Center for Sustainable Future Mobility (CSFM) and its partners are committed to delivering research-based solutions to drive this transformation.
The upcoming Symposium will be a great opportunity to engage with the sustainable transportation research community, get updates on ongoing projects, discuss the latest research news, and explore the most relevant research questions that lie ahead.
Keynotes
We're also thrilled to announce our first keynote speaker: external page Patricia Mokhtarian, Regents Professor at Georgia Tech. Her presentation, “Is Teleworking an Environmentally Benign Arrangement, or Not?”, will delve into the complex environmental implications of remote work.
Professor Mokhtarian is a globally recognised expert on travel behaviour, with over 40 years of research experience examining how teleworking, land use, and technology shape mobility patterns.
Featured projects
The programme will feature presentations from ongoing Mobility Initiative (MI) projects:
- ExplainAI: Designing explainable Machine Learning-based systems for collaborative work in railways
- OptXR: Optimisation of maintenance processes with extended reality
- Interactions-Mobility: Systemic view on the strategic interactions of future mobility offers
Stay tuned for the final program.
