Application and practical implementation of railway traffic management systems
SMARTIES: Scheduling Methods for Automated Railway Timetabling Improving the Efficiency of Smartrail
In the future, the demand in public railway transport will further increase. Automated scheduling of railway network traffic is one key element in the Smartrail 4.0 concept from SBB to provide reliable and sufficient services to their customers. Research in context of the thesis concerns the study of general scheduling problems and the design of appropriate fast solution algorithms to contribute to the development of automated scheduling systems in the context of Smartrail 4.0.
